The name "Utah" refers to the Native American Ute tribe and means "people of the mountains." This makes it no surprise that Utah is a prime destination for adventurous couples and outdoor enthusiasts
. Averaging the tallest peaks in the U.S., Utah is a state known for its skiing. Beyond the fact that its ski resorts are some of the highest ranking every year, they are also close enough in proximity so that visiting many is an option, which definitely sets Utah apart from most other ski destinations. Winter sports not your thing? With five national parks and six national forests, Utah has plenty of other activities to offer. Known for its mountain biking trails and hikes, there is always something to do and see in the mostly uninhabited Utah landscape. Aside from the beautiful mountain settings, Salt Lake city offers a more urban escape and is home to well known Temple Square, as well as the host of the Sundance Film Festival.

Time Zone: MountainTime Zone

Weather: In Utah there is a saying that goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." This is because statewide the weather is incredibly varied and often unpredictable. Utah generally has a semiarid to arid climate. Temperatures have a significant range throughout the state, however daily averages for Salt Lake City range from about 29 degrees Fahrenheit in winter to 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. In the regions with the lowest altitudes, annual rainfall can be under 5 inches, however in the mountainous areas it can be as high as 40 inches. The annual snowfall in Utah is generally about 59 in, and can remain on the highest peaks until late summer.
